So, this week flew by. Yikes. My blog post is totally tardy to the Gatsby party :/. Well, perhaps it's making a grand entrance.

Monday: We finished our film analyses and critiques. USE THIS RUBRIC to see how your blog post responding to the critique you read before viewing the film will be graded.

Tuesday: We played a couple of Kahoot review games and began the quiz for chapters 3 through 7. These will be graded over the weekend, barring any crazy plan interruptions.

Wednesday: We finished the quiz and began comparing and contrasting the "great American novel" The Great Gatsby to its latest (and, in my opinion, greatest) movie adaptation. We're using THIS DOCUMENT to track the information, which -- HINT HINT, NUDGE NUDGE -- will likely become the fodder for our next major essay.

Thursday: We explored the character introduction scenes in greater depth, focuing on specific passages and specific scenes, analyzing directorial choices for character development. We also discussed a critical change in the plot events (where Nick wakes up in the novel vs. where he wakes up in the film; the "pregnant elipsis") at the first party and why the director may have made that specific choice.

Friday: We watched, read, and analyzed Twenty One Pilots' song "Stressed Out" for symbolism that reflects a problem with/in the American Dream. Afterward, we continued watching and discussing Baz Luhrman's The Great Gatsby, pausing to discuss critical scenes and whether or not James Gatz / Jay Gatsby is actually broke. (See below.)
