Monday: We played Kahoot over chapters 7 and 8, and those of us who didn't read found out an ugly spoiler. Afterward, I read chapter 9 to the class, stopping to discuss critical symbolism, interesting theme-relevance, and powerfully emotional language. We then continued comparing the novel to the film.
Tuesday: After finishing Baz Luhrman's film adaptation of The Great Gatsby and the compare/contrast organizer (turned in today), we worked ourselves into acting/directing groups and began conceptualizing a scene to illuminate the lives of secondary characters in the novel.
Wednesday: Each group received a Video Project packet and determined which group members will perform and be graded on what video production duties they will perform. Each group will also begin working on a scene pitch to be approved by me before scripting and filming begin.
Thursday: Once storyboards and scripts are approved, students will be released for 30 minutes at a time to film their scenes. Special passes will be distributed with time stamps. Once scenes are filmed, students will return to edit their films.
Friday: Students will complete a Gatsby, Modernism, Film, & The Pursuit of Happiness exam study guide. The exam will be next Friday. Movie presentations will begin Thursday and end the following Monday.
HAPPY FILMING, BRILLIANT ONES.
