This week, WE DINE IN.... nah, just kidding. If you get that {300} reference, I like you. If not, i probably still like you :)
Monday: To prep for this ACT, let's look at our college-ready grammar and writing skills. We will take a mock ACT Writing test, then quickly analyze our results and determine our baseline ACT Writing scores. Afterward, we will think about what we should do to increase that baseline to something more attractive to colleges. For the remainder of the period, we will go back Into the Wild with Supertramp and see how he's livin'. And dyin'. Oi, sorry - Too soon?
Tuesday through Friday: For the remainder of the week, we will alternate between watching Into the Wild and completing our final project for this unit: the RAFT (Role/Audience/Format/Theme). There are multiple pieces to this project, so stay on track and we may have a relaxing Friday. Maybe we can take a nice Transcendental walk in the woods or something :).
RAFT self-reflection questions:
* What did you create? Explain the R,A,F,&T.
* Why did you create that, specifically?
* Why are your quotes appropriate to what you created?
USEFUL LINKS:
* ACTStudent.org (for ACT info and registration
* CollegeBoard.org (for SAT info and registration)
* CollegeSimply.com (for score to school alignment - remember that the ACT & SAT scores are only PART of what gets you into a school, but they matter)
Next weeK: We will escape all these happily escapist Transcendentalists and start talking about the miserable crazy-party Modernist crowd. Gatsby, anyone?
