Week 15: The End of Our Lit Circles / Ideal Citizen Unit

Monday & Tuesday: Novel work and watch Selma

Wednesday & Thursday: Final novel composition: Rewrite the beginning, middle, or end of your novel from the/an antagonist's perspective. Consider the depth of human experience that the antagonist brings to the table, and be sure to use narration to detail how the antagonist misunderstands the motivations of the novel's main character. Be thorough! I will assess it with the same rubric used to grade narratives on the EOC. the rubric is included below.

Important Note: You must include and highlight at least five literary devices in your writing. These should be from Monday's notes.

Prepare for tomorrow's final fishbowl by locating and summarizing an article relevant to a theme in your novel. You may use your phone or the desktop computers. After writing the summary, prepare your answers for our fishbowl tomorrow. We will only have 10 minutes to prepare!

Friday: Fishbowl day! Answer two of the three following questions, and provide textual support to your answers!

1) Summarize your news story, and explain how it connects thematically to your novel.

2) Discuss the point of view in your novel. How would it change if told from another perspective? From the perspective of the antagonist, how is the main character a “bad guy”?

3) How is one of the literary patterns in your booklet reflected in the third quarter of your text?
